NEW LEASE AT SUSSEX HOUSE KICKSTARTS MAJOR REVAMP BY AMERICAN EXPRESS

FI Real Estate Management (FIREM), the asset and property management company working on the 1.18M sq ft Mapeley ‘Beta’ property portfolio, has just announced the completion of a new 10 year lease to American Express Services Europe at the 100,020 sq ft Sussex House in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, which is to undergo a major remodelling and refurbishment for the future by the tenant.

American Express has occupied the building for over 15 years and was close to the expiry of the existing lease when FIREM was appointed to oversee the management of the 16  regional office buildings within ‘Beta’ by the LPA Receivers appointed by special servicers Solutus Advisors.

Commented James Raspin, FIREM’s Asset Manager for Sussex House: “We are delighted that American Express has decided to remain in the building and to transform it into one of their main business hubs in the South of England.  Having assessed alternative uses when we were appointed,  this route presented the best value both for the occupier and the portfolio’s investors.

“Sussex House with its large floorplates provides American Express with the scale and scope to create an exciting and modern workplace and we understand that they are planning to commit significant capital  to remodel and refurbish the building to Grade A standard to include a new glazed atrium, reception, enlarged cafe and conference facilities and new M&E.”
