Retail industry ‘guru’ Bernard Ferris has joined FI Real Estate Management (FIREM) from Colliers International where he was Head of Shopping Centre Management, overseeing operations in the UK and Central and Eastern Europe.
Ferris, who has enjoyed a long and successful career in retail with Colliers and King Sturge to name but a few, has been recruited by FIREM as Head of Shopping Centre Management UK and Europe.
FIREM, now one of the fastest growing asset and property management firms in Europe, is currently handling retail, offices and industrial property across the country and the continent, notably in Germany with a new business drive into France and Italy as well as other European countries.
Tim Knowles, MD of FIREM called the appointment ‘a real coup’. “Bernard is a highly regarded and greatly experienced professional with over 25 years’ service in his industry sector. He comes to us at an exciting and expansive time for us in terms of our future ambitions and our growth to now 300 personnel working across the UK and Europe.
“The property management industry is undergoing a much needed change in these difficult times.
“Retail, in particular, has been hard hit by recession and our fresh thinking and innovative approach to property and asset management is already turning around some major shopping centres, notably the Brunel Centre in Swindon which is showing strong signs of recovery since it went into receivership just over a year ago and we took over the asset management at the six months’ mark.
“Bernard’s experience in the UK and in Central and Eastern Europe is already valuable to us as we plan to grow our retail portfolio still further.”
Bernard Ferris is an active member of the British Council for Shopping Centres (BCSC) committee structure and he lectures on retail management at The College of Estates Management in Reading.
