FI Real Estate Management (FIREM) has ensured the business future of one of Peterborough’s most iconic office buildings – Northminster House – through a £1.8M refurbishment which will ‘raise the bar’ for modern office accommodation in the city.
Peterborough, which has been styled ‘one of the most strategically well-placed business centres in England’, continues to experience a shortage of high quality office space according to joint agents at Northminster House, Savills and Barker Storey Matthews.
FIREM, the asset and property managers at Northminster House, recognised the 50,000 sq ft building’s locational strengths, future potential and position in the city’s offices market. They decided to refurbish the second floor, reception and common areas including staff facilities, to a high-quality specification. Now completed, the new office space with its raised access floors, exposed ceilings with suspended LED lighting and comfort cooling, is ready for new occupiers to satisfy requirements from 3,000 to 14,000 sq ft.
Senior Asset Manager David Thwaites at FIREM commented: “The refurbishment of Northminster House now addresses the shortage of high quality office stock within Peterborough at an affordable rent.
“In addition to the quality of this refurbishment, the building offers an ‘excellent’ 5-star connectivity rating with the ability to connect to the city’s core 1GB internet service.
“Due to the encouraging levels of interest received so far, we plan to refurbish the first floor later this year where we will be able to satisfy demand for up to 27,000 sq ft.”
Situated just a ten-minute walk from Peterborough’s rail station, the building provides good access to the A1(M) Junction 17 (North to South) and the A47 (East to West).
